InterVarsity Press is hiring a
Remote Marketing Manager

📍 Remote

Pay: $60,000-$65,000 annually

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal:         
  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world.

Provide marketing strategies for titles by: 
  • Crafting data-driven, strategically sound, fully integrated marketing plans for up to 30 titles per year
  • Developing strong consumer insights that drive innovative marketing connections and allow for creative engagement of advertising messages across multiple channels during the pre-order and launch campaign periods, in particular
  • Monitoring ongoing sales data to adjust plans as needed to ensure frontlist titles backlist well
  • Leading cross-functional team strategy discussions to build marketing plans that are collaborative and leverage the full suite of IVP resources for titles
  • Engaging all relevant stakeholders in planning discussions: editors, sales, publicity, agents, authors, digital sales, lead generation, and design teams
  • Establishing collaborative relationships with authors, resourcing them well to activate their networks and affinity groups to elevate the overall awareness of titles and further drive sales
  • Securing strong partnerships with outside advertising vendors to maintain a comprehensive database of opportunities and build customized, targeted plans for titles
  • Managing budgets and track analytics to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of all marketing efforts
  • Writing creative briefs, customize marketing book description copy, and draft headlines for each title
  • Maintaining awareness of event marketing opportunities, pitch authors as speakers, and plan for and attend key conferences throughout the year. Examples include but are not limited to Christian Community Development Association, Jude 3, and The Gospel Coalition.
  • Expanding upon marketing opportunities that especially support authors of color and those individuals, groups, and organizations that seek to minister to them well and amplify their voices thoughtfully and with authenticity

Maintain Professional Growth and Development by:
  • Staying connected with industry trends and innovations in the above areas including, but not limited to, book publishing, e-mail marketing, customer engagement, and strategy for reaching new markets
  • Attending training events and conferences to remain current in the above areas
  • Participating in industry-wide events that help increase cultural competency within Christian publishing

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Affirmation of InterVarsity’s Statement of Faith
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to achieve and maintain a high level of knowledge regarding InterVarsity Press products, services, policies, programs and procedures
  • Prudence with confidential information
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage the needs of a variety of stakeholders at once
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital marketing best practices
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment
  • Flexibility to travel 10-15% for conferences and sales appointments as needed
  • Flexibility to attend Urbana Student Missions Conference every six years, Dec. 26-Jan.1, and National Staff Conference every three years (the year after Urbana), approximately Jan. 3-8
  • Knowledge of and interest in academic/thoughtful Christian books

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

LEVELS IN JOB FAMILY (POSTING WILL STATE THE RELEVANT LEVEL AT THE BEGINNING OF THE POSTING)

Associate Marketing Manager, Level 6
The Associate Marketing Manager is responsible for all the duties listed above and is preferred to have at least 2 years of experience working in a marketing/communications field but may be a new graduate with no experience.

Marketing Manager I, Level 7
The Marketing Manager I is responsible for all the duties listed above and will be involved in the publishing committee, contributing to strategy decisions, and some project management. A Marketing Manager I typically will have at least 4 years of marketing experience. 

Marketing Manager II, Level 8
The Marketing Manager II, in addition to the qualifications listed above, typically will have at least 6 years of experience in advertising, customer/author relations and digital marketing experience, a demonstrated ability to train and mentor team members, and must demonstrate expertise in creativity and personal initiative as well as teamwork and collaboration. The Marketing Manager II may assist the Director of Marketing in developing brand awareness campaigns, developing strategic partnerships, and potentially lead projects and processes as assigned.

Senior Marketing Manager, Level 9
The Senior Marketing Manager, in addition to the qualifications listed above, must have at least 8 years of experience in advertising, customer/author relations and digital marketing, at least two years of experience training and mentoring team members, and must demonstrate expertise in creativity and personal initiative as well as teamwork and collaboration. The Senior Marketing Manager will assist the Director of Marketing in developing new marketing initiatives, leading team meetings and leading key backlist product campaigns for bestselling titles.
