Remote Web DevOps Engineer

Description

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be a linchpin in the intersection of web development and web architecture, ensuring the seamless integration of cutting-edge technology into our web infrastructure. Collaborating closely with web developers, you will play a critical role in planning, implementing, and automating deployment processes. Your responsibilities extend beyond development to encompass system architecture, security protocols, and the enhancement of overall website infrastructure. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.
  • Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done.
  • Approach all tasks with a second mile mindset.
  • Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments.
  • Guide teams in designing, building, testing and deploying changes to existing software
  • Enhance the company’s website infrastructure security protocols
  • Identify manual processes that can be automated
  • Consider the organization’s entire website infrastructure when making changes and improvements
  • Maintain and improve the website cloud infrastructure
  • Assist with large projects and while also accomplishing many smaller tasks
  • Receive project requirements via diagrams, verbal or written instructions and translate those into a completed project
  • Collaborate with web design, web content, and IT teams as projects require
  • Monitor industry trends to keep website infrastructure cutting edge and relevant
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS
  • Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith.
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Regularly attends a local Bible-believing church.
  • Advanced understanding of modern cloud environments such as AWS and Azure
  • Advanced skills for modern web development using server-side languages
  • Thorough understanding of current coding best practices and standards
  • Strong understanding of HTTP and common server architectures
  • Advanced skills in a code editor of choice such as VS Code or others
  • Focused on user-first development practices that help users and maximize engagement
  • Takes a content-is-king approach that makes the technology secondary to communication and user tasks
  • Able to accurately estimate work required to complete tasks
  • Able to gather requirements from non-technical and semi-technical team members
  • Basic understanding of common devops processes
  • Basic knowledge of git (or similar versioning software) is recommended but not initially required
  • Familiarity with workflow and collaboration solutions ClickUp, Teams, Dropbox, etc.
  • Cares about people and enjoys contributing to a creative and productive team dynamic
  • Efficient - tackling problems in a timely manner
  • Independently resourceful - researching solutions with minimal supervision
  • Organized - able to keep track of multiple concurrent projects and multiple team members
  • Creative - thinking outside the box for optimal solutions to difficult problems
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A fast learner - adapting to new methodologies with minimal coaching
  • Humble - giving and receiving criticism with a graceful spirit

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • Recent two years of experience with website architecture
  • Experience with content management systems and ecommerce systems
  • Experience working with web designers to maintain a consistent branding & design presence across all digital projects
