Remote Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager
As an Engineering Manager, you will meaningfully contribute to the software that churches rely on every day. Not only will you lead a small team of talented engineers, but you will also collaborate and develop software alongside them by being involved in supporting existing features and developing new features.
Primary Responsibilities of the Role
Developing Software (50%-70%)
- Craft code in a way that meets our Tithe.ly coding standards and makes our products and services flexible, stable, and maintainable.
- Build key frontend and backend features, integrating with internal and external APIs, end-to-end testing, code reviews and system planning.
- Take ownership of code to ensure quality and efficiency across the team and organization.
- Attack tech debt with a vengeance.
- Offer novel solutions to solve our complex and evolving problems.
Leading Engineers (30%-50%)
- Coach your team to ensure they have everything they need.
- Equip and enable your team to produce results while maintaining a great culture at Tithe.ly.
- Ensure code quality is high through processes, coaching, and documentation.
- Mentoring / coaching team members on writing documentation.
- Assist in designing strategies for future team development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources.
- Assist with hiring engineers for your team and coordinating their training when necessary.

- Communicate Effectively by developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
- Manage Complexity by making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
Technical Qualifications
Required:
- Deep expertise with either Vue.js or PHP.
- Basic proficiency in at least one additional programming environment.
- 5-8 years of experience in a professional environment working with a SaaS web application.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field.
- 1-3 years of experience in personnel management.
Office Requirements:
- We are a fully distributed team (100% remote) with travel sometimes required 1-2 times per year.
- A stable work environment with designated workspace and access to high-speed internet.
- US or CAN based and legally able to work full time in the US or Canada. Sponsorships are not available at this time.

Salary Range: $120,000-$160,000
